Save

Saving is how reading material gets into Recalio. You can save one item at a time, or set up sources that bring in new items for you.

Save a page

Click +, choose Link, paste a web address, and save.

Recalio opens the page, cleans it up for reading, and puts it in Inbox. If you already saved the same page, Recalio opens the existing copy instead of making a duplicate.

Save a PDF or document

Click +, choose File, and upload a supported document:

• PDF
• Word document
• Markdown

A Link that points to one of these files works too, including download links that do not end in .pdf. Recalio reads it exactly like an upload.

Documents go to Inbox. If an older .doc file does not work, convert it to PDF or DOCX and try again.

Add a blog or feed

Click +, choose Feed, and paste a blog or feed link. Recalio will look for the feed and ask you to confirm it.

New feed articles usually appear in Discover first. Move the ones you want to read into Inbox. For feeds you trust, turn on Auto Inbox so new posts go straight to Inbox.

Save newsletters by email

Click +, choose Email, and copy your private Recalio email address. You can use it to subscribe to newsletters or forward messages into Recalio.

Newsletter issues usually appear in Discover first. Messages you send from your own email address may go to Inbox, especially when they contain links you want Recalio to save.

Email can also bring in supported attachments such as PDFs, Word documents, and Markdown files.

Use the browser extension

Use the browser extension when you are already looking at a web page you want to save.

If the page is new, click Save page. If it is already saved, the extension can take you straight to the reader. On saved pages, use the extension’s highlight action when it appears.

Some pages cannot be saved, such as browser settings pages, extension pages, private pages, or pages Recalio cannot access.

Save from your phone

If Recalio is installed on your phone, you can use your phone’s share menu to send a link to Recalio. The saved link goes to Inbox and can be opened in the reader.

On iPhone, Recalio can also work with an iOS Shortcut. Use the app’s setup flow for the shortcut and keep the generated key private.

Advanced: import or automate

If you are moving feeds from another reader, you can import an OPML file from +, then Feed.

If you write scripts or use an AI agent, Recalio also has an API and an MCP endpoint — see AI Agents and API. If neither applies to you, the app covers every saving flow on its own.

When saving does not work

A save may fail or appear incomplete when:

• The page blocks readers or requires a login.
• The file type is unsupported.
• The page has very little readable text.
• The email or attachment is too large.
• The browser extension cannot access the current page.

When that happens, try a different format, save the original link, or upload a PDF copy if you have one.
