Chapter 05 Recalio Docs

Recall

Review saved highlights before they fade.

Recall brings saved highlights back so the important parts do not disappear after you read them once.

How Recall works

Every highlight can become a recall card. Recalio gives you a short session made from highlights you saved while reading.

Open Recall from the main navigation, or use the Today’s recall card on the home page when it appears.

Today’s session

Recalio keeps recall sessions short. A session can include up to 10 highlights.

If you leave and come back later the same day, Recalio resumes where you left off. If there is nothing to review, the page tells you there is nothing to recall.

Recall cards

Each card shows the highlighted passage. If you added a note, the note appears with it.

The card also shows the source document. Open it when you want to see the highlight in context.

Controls

Use:

  • Next when you have reviewed the current card.
  • Previous to go back one card.
  • Complete to finish the last card.
  • Mastered when you know the highlight well enough and do not need it in recall anymore.
  • Delete when the highlight is no longer useful.

Mastered and Delete can be undone before you move to the next card.

What comes back later

After you review a highlight, Recalio waits before showing it again. The goal is to bring things back often enough to remember them, without making you grade every card.

If you have only a few highlights, you may see some of them again sooner. As your highlight library grows, Recall has more material to choose from.

Streaks

Finish the day’s session to update your recall streak.

A streak increases once per day when you complete that day’s recall. Completing more than once on the same day does not add extra streak days. If you miss days, the current streak starts again when you complete a new session.

Keep Recall useful

Highlight only what you want to see again. Good recall highlights are usually:

  • Definitions
  • Claims
  • Decisions
  • Numbers
  • Steps
  • Surprising facts
  • Passages you want to quote or remember

Choose Mastered when you know a highlight well enough and do not need to review it again. Choose Delete when the highlight was not worth reviewing after all.

Recall works best when it stays short and focused.
