Get Started
Save something, read it, and bring the important parts back later.
Recalio helps you keep up with things you want to read and remember. Save an article, newsletter, web page, or file, read it in a calmer view, highlight the parts that matter, and review those highlights later.
What Recalio is
Recalio is a reading home for people who save more than they can read in one sitting.
You can use it to:
- Save articles, newsletters, web pages, and files.
- Keep chosen reading in Inbox.
- Skim incoming newsletters and feeds in Discover.
- Read in a cleaner view without the noisy parts of the original page.
- Highlight important passages and add notes.
- Review saved highlights later in Recall.
It is not meant to turn every saved link into homework. The goal is to keep the best reading easy to find, easy to finish, and easier to remember.
Quick start
Start with one thing you already want to read:
- Save something with the + button.
- Open Inbox and read it.
- Highlight what matters.
- Review it later in Recall, a short review of your highlights.
That is the core loop: save, read, highlight, review.
Where things go
Recalio keeps your reading in three places:
- Inbox is for things you chose to read.
- Discover is for incoming feeds and newsletters you may or may not want.
- Archive is for things you are done with but still want to keep.
Most people should treat Inbox like a small reading list. Move only the good stuff there. Let Discover hold the rest until you decide.
Save your first item
Click + and choose one of these options:
- Link: paste a web link.
- File: upload a PDF, Word document, or Markdown file.
- Feed: add a blog or feed.
- Email: copy your private Recalio email address for newsletters or forwarded messages.
For your first try, use Link or File. They are the simplest and go straight to Inbox.
Read and highlight
Open the item from Inbox. Recalio shows a clean reader with controls for notes, highlights, appearance, summaries, audio, and document actions when they are available.
To save a passage, select the text and choose Highlight. Add a note if you want to remind your future self why that passage mattered.
Review highlights
After you have a few highlights, open Recall. Recalio shows a short review session from your saved highlights.
Use Next when you have reviewed a card. Use Mastered when you no longer need to see a highlight again. Use Delete when the highlight no longer belongs in recall.
Add more ways to save later
Once the basic flow feels clear, add the other ways to save:
- Browser extension for saving pages as you browse.
- Mobile share sheet for saving from your phone.
- Feeds for blogs and sites you follow.
- Save by email for newsletters and forwarded messages.
Keep this simple at first. Save a few things, read them, highlight only the best parts, and archive what you finish.
Find things again
Use search when you know what you want. Search can find saved articles, newsletters, files, and highlighted documents. The keyboard shortcut is Cmd+K on Mac and Ctrl+K on Windows or Linux.
A good first-week habit
Try this once a day:
- Check Discover and move only the best items to Inbox.
- Read one or two things from Inbox.
- Highlight the passages you truly want to remember.
- Finish the Recall session if one is waiting.
- Archive anything you are done with.
Recalio works best when Inbox stays small and Recall stays useful.
