Read

The reader gives saved articles, newsletters, and files a cleaner place to live. It keeps the text centered and puts the main controls nearby.

Open a document

Open any saved item from Inbox, Discover, Archive, Search, or Highlights.

The reader shows the title, source, author when available, reading time, and publish date when Recalio can find it. On longer documents, an On this page outline may appear so you can jump between sections.

Reader controls

Use the reader toolbar for common actions:

• Back returns to where you came from.
• Details shows basic information about the document.
• Annotations opens notes and highlights.
• Listen opens audio when available.
• Typography changes the reading appearance.
• More actions lets you share, archive, unarchive, or delete.

On phones, some controls move into the bottom action bar.

Discover items

You can open Discover items and read them before deciding whether they belong in Inbox.

If you want to highlight, recall, or keep working with a Discover item, choose Add to Inbox.

Email documents

Email documents may have two views:

• Parsed is the cleaned reader version.
• Raw shows the original email layout when available.

Use the cleaned view for normal reading, summaries, audio, notes, and highlights. Use the original email view only when you need to check how the email looked when it arrived.

YouTube saves

When Recalio recognizes a YouTube link, the reader shows the video near the top. The saved description appears below it.

You can still use the same reader controls as other documents.

Change the reading style

Open Typography to change the font, text size, content width, and theme.

Recalio remembers your choices in the browser, so the next document opens the same way.

Summaries

Some documents can show a summary near the top of the reader.

Use summaries to decide whether to read something closely, remind yourself what a long article was about, or skim before making highlights.

Generating new summaries may require a Pro plan. AI summaries use the document text; see the privacy policy for how Recalio handles AI processing.

Audio

Use Listen when you want Recalio to read a document aloud. Audio may require a Pro plan and is only available when Recalio has a readable version of the document.

The audio player lets you:

• Play and pause.
• Restart after the end.
• Change speed.
• Seek through the document.
• Follow the current sentence while listening.

If you scroll or navigate manually, follow mode turns off so you can read at your own pace.

Notes and highlights

Select text in the reader and choose Highlight to save a passage. Choose Copy if you only want the selected text on your clipboard.

Open Annotations to see the document note and all highlights for the current document. You can search, filter, copy, delete, add notes, generate AI highlights on supported plans, and export notes and highlights.

Links inside documents

External links open in a new tab. Some links can show a small preview with the page title, description, image, and an option to save the linked page to Recalio.

When a tool is missing

Some controls appear only when they can be used.

• Highlights need a readable version of the document.
• Audio may require a Pro plan.
• Summaries and AI highlights may require a Pro plan.
• Original email view is for checking the original email, not for notes, summaries, or audio.
