Newsletters and Feeds

Bring in newsletters, feeds, and forwarded email.

Newsletters and feeds bring reading material into Recalio automatically. They are best for blogs, newsletters, and messages you forward often.

Discover first

New feed articles and newsletters usually go to Discover. This keeps your Inbox from filling up with things you have not chosen yet.

Open Discover, skim what arrived, and choose Add to Inbox for anything worth reading, highlighting, or recalling.

Add a blog or feed

Click +, choose Feed, and paste a blog or feed link. Recalio checks the link, shows the feed it found, and adds it after you confirm.

After that, new posts from the feed appear in Discover. You can also sync a feed manually from its source menu.

Turn on Auto Inbox only for feeds you trust enough to read regularly. It affects new posts going forward.

Save newsletters

Click +, choose Email, and copy your private Recalio email address. You can also find it in Settings > Save by email.

You can:

  • Subscribe to newsletters with that address.
  • Forward newsletters to it.
  • Send supported attachments to it.

Most newsletter issues appear in Discover. Move the ones you want to read into Inbox.

You can email links to your Recalio address from the email account you use for Recalio. Recalio will try to save the article links from that message.

This is useful when you find something on a device where the extension or share menu is not convenient.

Manage sources

Open Discover and choose Sources to see your feeds and newsletter senders.

From there you can:

  • Filter Discover to one feed or newsletter.
  • Search your sources.
  • Turn Auto Inbox on or off.
  • Sync a feed.
  • Unsubscribe when Recalio has enough unsubscribe information.

Unsubscribing from a feed removes future posts from that feed. Items you already moved to Inbox or Archive stay in your library.

Newsletter unsubscribe opens the sender’s unsubscribe page or mail app when available. Recalio cannot control whether the outside unsubscribe process succeeds.

Your Recalio email address

Your Recalio email address is meant for saving newsletters and forwarded messages into your account. Keep it private, like any address that can send things into your library.

If you are worried an address is getting spam or unwanted mail, go to Settings > Save by email and rotate it. Rotating gives you a new address and turns off the old one.

Seen and unseen

Discover uses Unseen for items you have not looked at yet and Seen for items you have already skimmed.

Marking something seen does not delete it. It only helps keep Discover focused on what is new.

Advanced: import OPML

If you already use another feed reader, export your feeds as an OPML file and import it from +, then Feed.

Recalio will try to add each feed from the file. If a few feeds fail, the rest can still be added.

Keep newsletters and feeds useful

Newsletters and feeds are easiest to manage when you are selective.

  • Let most feeds and newsletters start in Discover.
  • Turn on Auto Inbox only for your favorites.
  • Move only the best items to Inbox.
  • Mark the rest seen when you are done skimming.
